Patrick Hartnett, Founder of Hartnett Law Group, has been practicing law for four decades and has a substantial experience in Binding Arbitration, Mediation, Court Trials, and Jury Trials.

 

As an attorney Mr. Patrick Hartnett has represented subcontractors, suppliers, material men, general contractors, developers, and public entities in construction, business, and real estate matters. Mr. Hartnett received his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University. While in law school, he was the Business Editor of the Santa Clara Computer and High Technology Law Journal. As a law clerk, he assisted James Acret, Esq. with legal research for the publication of two construction law books: The Construction Litigation Handbook and The Construction Arbitration Handbook both published by Shepards-McGraw Hill.  He has lectured extensively and presented seminars on California construction law, business contracts, and business law to educate clients, general counsel, and risk managers in “litigation prevention.”

 

He is also a member of the American, Los Angeles, and Orange County Bar Associations as well as an affiliate member of several construction and development trade associations. He is active in legislative advocacy for the Southern California Contractors Association (SCCA) to correct laws and judicial opinions, which are not conducive to a free, fair and just business climate in California. In addition, he is a member of Rotary International and a proud active volunteer, Board Member, and Executive Committee Member for the Boy Scouts of America, Orange County Council.

 

With an emphasis on Business law, Mr. Hartnett prides himself on a practice, which assists businesses, individuals, and those stewards of the public trust in turning the “American Dream” into a reality. Mr. Hartnett also has a mediation practice that specializes exclusively in construction, disputes, and real estate.

Jessica L. Jasper-Braley is of counsel for the Hartnett Law Group assisting the firm’s clients with both transactional and litigation matters. 

 

Attorney Jasper-Braley takes the lead on the firm’s employment law matters. She enjoys advising the firm’s business clients on how best to protect themselves from costly employment litigation by taking a proactive approach. Some of the ways that Attorney Jasper-Braley advises clients to be proactive in employment law matters is by: drafting up-to-date employee handbooks; advising clients on current employee leave requirements; drafting confidentiality agreements; advising clients on proper termination procedures and drafting separation agreements; as well as, advising clients on current wage and hour obligations. Attorney Jasper-Braley represents the firm’s clients should matters proceed to litigation, including wrongful termination claims, discrimination claims, and wage and hour claims. 

 

In addition to employment law matters, Attorney Jasper-Braley advises our clients on matters of: construction law and litigation, both public and private; partnership disputes and business litigation; contract drafting and review; breach of contract disputes; corporate advising including record keeping and business formation; intellectual property matters including unfair competition; and, commercial landlord-tenant law including unlawful detainer matters. 

 

Attorney Jasper-Braley began her career at the Hartnett Law Group as an associate attorney in September 2010. In November 2015, she became of counsel and began working remotely for the Hartnett Law Group from the St. Louis, Missouri area. She travels back to California when in-person appearances are needed. Attorney Jasper-Braley can meet our clients wherever they are through Zoom, GoToMeeting, Google Meet, Skype, FaceTime, teleconferencing, or any other platform they are most comfortable using. 

 

As Editor-in-Chief of the Hartnett Law Group’s eLegalBrief, Attorney Jasper-Braley puts into action her belief that “knowledge is power” by keeping our friends, family, clients, and colleagues apprised of the latest legal developments.

 

Attorney Jasper-Braley received her Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law in Dayton, Ohio and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Communications from American University in Washington, D.C. Attorney Jasper-Braley is originally from Cary, Illinois, a Northwest suburb of Chicago.

Fred P. Hayes

Fred Hayes has over 28 years as an attorney and over 10 years as a real estate broker.  Fred is of counsel to the Hartnett Law Group to assist clients in selected major projects and areas in Fred's expertise, including wrong death cases, real estate transactions and disputes, and defense of ADA claims.

 

Mr. Hayes previously practiced with Patrick Hartnett for over ten years, focusing primarily on construction and real estate related litigation, including disputes over major public and private construction projects.

 

Fred has been primary counsel in significant wrongful death cases, including a case resolved for current settlement payments of 3.8 million dollars.

 

Recently, Mr. Hayes has been involved in defending claims by professional ADA plaintiffs.  In one case, the plaintiff agreed to dismiss for a waiver of the defendants' costs, with no payment by the defendants.  In a jury trial in another ADA case, Mr. Hayes obtained a verdict in favor of his clients and against the ADA plaintiff.  Costs and attorneys fees of $11,518.60 were awarded against the plaintiff.

 

Mr. Hayes sells real estate as a real estate broker, and the brokerage work is not associated with the Hartnett Law Group.  However, Mr. Hayes has also acted as attorney in sales of property in which the seller has already located an acceptable buyer, and has acted as attorney in contract negotiations and due diligence in major commercial real estate purchases.

 

Mr. Hayes has assisted in drafting and supporting legislation helpful to California businesses.  Mr. Hayes has acted as an expert witness before the California State Assembly regarding proposed legislation.

Christopher D. Hartnett is an associate at the Hartnett Law Group.

 

Mr. Hartnett obtained his Juris Doctorate from The George Washington Law School where he served as the Articles Editor for The Federal Circuit Bar Journal and successfully competed in numerous trial and appellate advocacy competitions. Prior to law school, Mr. Hartnett received his undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University where he double majored in Economics and Political Science while also operating his own business providing laundry, water, and storage services for undergraduates.

 

Before joining HLG, Mr. Hartnett worked as a law clerk in the Legal Services department for Pepco Holdings, Inc., a Fortune 500 electrical utility, and interned with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Salvatore Sirna.

 

"Eager" and "Relentless" embody Mr. Hartnett’s approach to achieving his clients’ goals. With both a practical and theoretical understanding of the economics of businesses, Mr. Hartnett seeks solutions to legal problems that consider and maximize both the short term and long term benefits of his clients.

 

As an Orange County native, Mr. Hartnett achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 93 in Fullerton, California. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, teaching the LSAT to aspiring law students, and exploring the great outdoors of California.
